Day 1: Airport Transer /Kigali to Ruhengeri
Pick up from Kigali at your hotel or be picked from the
airport drive you to Parc de Volcans. Dinner and overnight
and overnight at Gorilla Nest Hotel or Kinigi Kinigi Guest
House.
Day 2: Park Des Volcans - Gorilla-tracking day
After early breakfast and head to track gorillas. If time
allows take visit to the communities Dinner and overnight
Gorilla Nest Hotel or Kinigi Kinigi Guest House
Day 3: Volcanoes National park
Taking another gorilla trek is (optional – top up
of $500) or you will visit Karusoke Research centre, or
visit the golden monkeys or drive to Gisenyi, visit Ross
Carr's orphanage and Lake Kivu or climb the Visoke/Muhavura
volcanoes, or trek to Dian Fossey's grave, or visit the
local school, community projects or walk to Lake Bulera.Diner
and overnigh Gorilla Nest Hotel or Kinigi Kinigi Guest House
Day 4: Ruhengeri Kisoro to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast in the morning cross border into Uganda
by Kisoro side and drive to Kabale – lake Bunyonyi
and overnight at Acadia Cottages/Habuharo Lodge/Overland
Resort for budget facility.
Day 5: Lake Bunyonyi - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Morning take a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi seeing plenty
of bird life and visiting communities as they go their daily
activities. Enjoy this Switzerland of Africa scenery. After
lunch drive to Bwindi. Stay at Gorilla Forest camp/ Buhoma
Lodge/ Buhoma Community Camp
Day 6: Gorilla tracking
After an early breakfast, report to the ranger station for
registration and briefing by one of the ranger guides. Head
into the forest in search of the Gorillas, the time taken
and the terrain vary with the movement of these great giants.
Depending on the time of return, a community guided walk
will be organized with visits to the Batwa/pygmies, traditional
doctors and blacksmith, this will be summed up with entertainment
from the Local Youth group members, Dinner and overnight
at the same as above.
Day 7: Buhoma – Queen Elizebeth National Park
Today, we shall start early after breakfast and drive to
Queen Elizabeth National Park. We may either drive through
Ishasha sector popularly known for climbing lions or drive
through the beautiful scenaries of Rukungiri district. In
terms of diversity, Queen Elizabeth National Park ranks
best in birding Uganda with over 610 species recorded, and
a one-day record of 296 species.
Special birds of this park that include Harlequin Quail,
Blue Quail, Small (Common) Buttonquail, African Crake, White-winged
Warbler, Martial Eagle, African Skimmer, Verreaux's Eagle-Owl,
Papyrus Gonolek, Amur Falcon, Ovampo Sparrowhawk. Lowland
Akalat, Greater and Lesser Flamingo, Shoebill, Black Bee-eater,
Caruthers's Cisticola, Terek Sandpiper, Secretary Bird,
and Temminck's Courser. Mammals include African Elephant,
Spotted Hyena, Leopard, Lion, Ugandan Kobs, Side-striped
Jackal, Baboons, Chimpanzees, Bush and Water Bucks, Warthogs,
Giant Forest Hogs to mention but a few. Dinner and overnight
at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Jacana Safari Lodge/ Ishasha Wilderness
Camp.
Day 8: Game Drive and Boat Cruise
Early Morning game drive, head for the mating ground of
the Uganda Kobs and the a search for the tree climbing Lions,
elephants, buffaloes, if luck the Leopard and many bird
species. Return to your accommodation for Lunch/ or a packed
lunch will have been provided in the morning. In the afternoon
we proceed for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel,
a natural link between Lake Edward and Lake George. Enjoy
abundant bird life such as such as African Fish eagle, Grey
headed king fisher, Swamp flycatcher, Grey capped Warbler,
Great White nad Pink backed Pelican, Great and long tailed
Cormorants, Common Squaco Heron, African open billed stock,
Pied kingfishers, Black crake, swamp fly catcher among others
and
the hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at the shores,
this cruise will definitely be one of the highlights of
your safari. Return to your accommodation and enjoy beautiful
sunset.
Day 9: Maramagambo Forest – Fort Portal
After an early breakfast, we head for Maramagambo forest.
A few specialties at maramagambo forest include the Yellow-bellied
and Jameson's Wattle-eyes, Black Bee-eater, White-tailed
and Red-tailed Ant-Thrush, Brown and Grey-chested Illadopsis,
Shinning Blue Kingfisher, Brown-eared Woodpeckers, Narina
Trogon, Least Honeyguide, Grey Greenbul, Brown-chested Alethe.
The trail through the forest leads past a bat cave, which
is rather impressive, and if we are lucky we may come across
a Python that lives in the cave and feasts on the bats.
In the afternoon to Fort Portal, overnight and accommodation
at drive to Ndali Lodge / Primate Lodge/ Chimpanzee Forest
Guest house.
Day 10: Primate watch/chimpanzee tracking
Upon arrival, proceed to Kibaale National Park visitors’
reception for briefing for the afternoon Chimp trek. Kibale
Forest is reputable for the greatest variety and highest
concentration of primates in East Africa. Visit the “top
of the world’ with views of all crater Lakes in the
region or go birding in the afternoon along the main road
or Visit to the Bigodi Swamp.. Overnight and accommodation
at drive to Ndali Lodge / Primate Lodge/ Chimpanzee Forest
Guest house.
Day 11: Murchison Falls
Drive to Murchison falls National Park. Dinner and overnight
at Paraa Saari Lodge or Sambiya River lodge or Red chili
camp.
Day 12: Game Drive and Boat Cruise
After breakfast, embark on an early morning game drive
on the northern bank where a trained ranger guide will help
you spot elephants, lions, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s
giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, oribi, bushbucks, bohor
reed bucks, hyenas, and on rare cases leopards. Return to
the lodge for breakfast. Relax at the swimming pool side.
Have lunch and after, you will safari up stream by boat
to the calm Victoria Nile and the base of the falls just
tens of meters from the "Devil's Cauldron." Here
you can have a look at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles
and over the 17-kilometer stretch you may also see waterbucks,
elephants, and Uganda kobs. This place is also the habitat
of many bird species including goliath herons, Egyptian
geese, pelican bee-eaters, Hombills, kingfishers, cormorants
and the rare shoebill stork. After taking shots of the photogenic
Murchison Falls you will return for dinner and an overnight
stay at Paraa lodge/Nile Safari Lodge.
Day 13: Top falls – Forest Nature Walk
In the morning after breakfast, drive to the top of the
spectacular fall where the Nile's perfected beauty can be
viewed easily, and marvel as it compresses and squeezes
itself from over 1 kilometer wide down through a 7-meter
canyon. The 150-meter drop of the falls creates a thunderous
roar and a beautiful rainbow in a plume of spray - the best
thing to ever happen to the Nile. Thereafter drive to Budongo
Forest Reserve for Nature Walk or chimp Walk Overnight and
Dinner at Kaniyo Pabidi
Day 14: Budongo to Kampala
After Breakfast depart the forest for Kampala, with a stop
at the Rhino Sanctuary at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola
to view some of the remaining Rhinos in Uganda.This sanctuary
has now been established to breed black and white rhino,
and restore Rhino populations in Uganda’s protected
areas in a later stage. Thereafter transfer to your accommodation
in Entebbe.
Day 15: Departure
You will be dropped off to Entebbe International Airport
depending on your time of departure.
